SalesNexus allows you to send Email Marketing Blasts to the contacts you have in your account. This allows you to increase your presence and cultivate interest in your services and products. In order for this to be successful, we have created this list of guidelines to assist you in making the best decision when it comes to how the message is sent.
Your Options
DKIM
Setting up DKIM allows your business email address to be the FROM email that email recipients see. See examples of this here.
One of the options you have when sending emails using SalesNexus is called DKIM. This is the best option for making sure your email makes it into the inbox of your recipient. To help in explaining how this works think of this real world example:
- The Mail man comes to your door with a message you must sign for.
- You ask him "who is the message from?"
- He hands you a business card with the contact information for the sender
- Before you sign you want to verify it is legit, so you call the number on the card
- The person who answers confirms the package is legit
- So you receive it
The example above is the same as what happens when our server sends the message to your contacts:
- Our Server Attempts delivery of your message
- Receiving server asks for confirmation of sender
- Our server presents your DKIM key
- Receiving server calls your server to confirm authentication of DKIM
- Receiving server accepts the message as authentically coming from your email server
In order to use DKIM to authenticate your emails, we will generate the DKIM key that you or your IT team will need to place in your company's Network DNS records to verify that our server has been approved to send emails from your domain.
To get DKIM setup, go to Settings > Email > Setup DKIM. More on setting up DKIM, SPF and return domains here.
Using Free Email Addresses
It is possible to send emails using a Free email address, but it is not recommended. What is classified as a Free email address?
Common Free Email Addresses
- Gmail - @gmail.com
- Yahoo - @yahoo.com
- Hotmail - @hotmail.com
- Live - @live.com
Using any email address that does not match the domain used when setting up DKIM will result in the From Address looking different. See examples here.
Any email address that has something other than your company's domain at the end, is considered a Free email address. This does not have the best delivery rate, since many ISP's, such as Google, will consider those messages as "possible" spam. And if many of the recipients mark them as spam, then Google will make note and start sending all of those to spam.
SalesNexus generates an authentic "sender" address so that our DKIM key can be used to authenticate the email you send using a "free" address. This has a higher deliverability than just attempting to send from our servers using the "free" address alone, but less deliverable than having your own Domain Key (DKIM) setup.
SalesNexus Recommendation
We recommend that you use DKIM, since it has a very high deliverability rate. Also, by using your own DKIM you will be unaffected by other poor senders. To have DKIM Setup, go to Settings > Email > Setup DKIM. Learn more here.
